About Five For

Five For's staff is made up of a team of dedicated volunteers from all around the world. From translators to writers, artists to photographers, the team is dedicated to spreading their love of Japanese music to the rest of the world.

Five For is not owned and operated by a giant publishing mega-corporation, it is truly by fans, for fans.

Help us spread the word!

Five For Magazine

About our staff

About our Editor - Sara Crane: Five For Magazine was begun by freelance JRock reporter Sara Crane. Frustrated at the lack of English language publications available to the U.S. and European markets, Sara hopes to use her own experience as an interviewer and photographer to broaden the reach of JMusic.

Having worked with huge names like Yoshiki and Miyavi, Indies bands such as LiN CLOVER and MONO, and everything in between, Sara hopes to cover the JMusic scene in Japan, Europe, and the U.S. so that fans outside of Japan have an equal chance to learn about and share their favorite bands.

Julie Rose:

Sayaka Maki: "We all deserve to feel and share the joy of life regardless of country borders," Sayaka says. Having importer/exporter parents, Sayaka grew up surrounded by foreign cultures, and always felt the world very close to her while living in Japan. She attended University in Osaka, majoring in international communication, which brought her a strong ambition to live in another country. Now she is finishing up her marketing degree in Seattle, and hoping to extend her career in the U.S. She appreciates when people are interested in anything about Japan, and is proud to be a part of the work making Japanese music available to the world. She loves cooking, yoga, movies, travelling and meeting people. "I love people! I love sharing and giving joy to them!" She is eager to always be a part of connecting the world through her life.

Yuri Kawabe: "I am currently studying communications in Seattle to fulfill my dream to work in a media or advertisement area. I love to meet new people, talk, eat and sleep:)"
